The design narrative follows its history as a place of rest and harvest on the banks of the Campaspe river for first peoples, and more recently a village of tents on the road to the goldfields. Expression of bark hut and tent is present in both these stories and the form of the existing house. The new interventions follow and strengthen these notions to create a home that feels as if it’s grown from its past and present contexts.

In a township of paddocks, an existing a-frame mud brick home is retained and expanded upon to improve the homes fluidity within, and connection to garden.
